US government moves to stop potential banking crisisNEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. government took extraordinary steps Sunday to stop a potential banking crisis after the historic failure of Silicon Valley Bank, assuring all depositors at the failed institution that they could access all their money quickly, even as another major bank was shut down.The announcement came amid fears that the factors that caused the Santa Clara, California-based bank to fail could spread. Regulators had worked all weekend to try to find a buyer for the bank, which was the second-largest bank failure in history. Those efforts appeared to have failed Sunday. In a sign of how fast the financial bleeding was occurring, regulators announced that New York-based Signature Bank had also failed and was being seized on Sunday. HERMANN, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued a Blue Alert late Sunday evening after two officers with the Hermann Police Department were shot.The shooting happened just before 9:20 p.m. at the Casey's General Store in the 800 block of Market Street, in Hermann.Hermann is located approximately 75 miles west of St. Louis, along the Missouri River. Altercation inside Creve Coeur store leads to parking lot shooting Kenneth Lee SimpsonState police claim Kenneth Lee Simpson is the shooter.Simpson, 35, stands 5'10" tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He has hazel eyes and red hair.Simpson was driving a black 2014 Jeep Wrangler with Missouri license plates RF5A0P.The circumstances of the shooting were not disclosed.
