By EDDIE PELLS (AP National Writer)BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Track, and fame, can be brutal games. Nobody felt that more over the past two years than American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson. On a sultry Monday night a half-world away from where her problems began, the 23-year-old earned a gold medal at world championships in the biggest 100-meter race this side of the Olympics. Her victory, in 10.65 seconds over Jamaicans Shericka Jackson and five-time world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, capped a comeback two years in the making and made good on the mantra she’s been reciting all year — and repeated yet again after her latest victory: “I’m not back. I’m better.”Two summers ago after Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, Richardson’s road to the Tokyo Games was roadblocked by a positive test for marijuana. Her name turned into a litmus test in a wide-ranging debate about race, fairness, the often-impenetrable anti-doping rulebook and...

PHILADELPHIA — Kyle Harrison is officially a major leaguer.Well, not officially. Not until he is added to the roster Tuesday, when he will make his debut against the Phillies. But standing at his locker here, in front of his gray No. 45 jersey, the newly minted 22-year-old sure looked the part as the Giants’ top pitching prospect in a decade addressed his highly anticipated promotion.Your reaction to the news?“I couldn’t happier to be here. Still, McCarthy will likely need votes from Democrats to pass a short-term funding measure than can also get through the Senate and be signed into law.Among the demands from the House Freedom Caucus:— Spending levels below the top-line numbers that McCarthy had agreed t...

The debate over who’s the greatest point guard in NBA history will continue to rage on, but a focal point of the conversation weighed in this week.Stephen Curry is regularly pitted against Magic Johnson in the GOAT of point guards discussion, but the Warriors star voted for himself when asked point-blank by Gilbert Arenas on a recent episode of the “Gil’s Arena” podcast whether he thought he was the best point guard ever.Curry paused for a brief second before turning to Arenas and responding, “Yes.”As Arenas shook his head and silence filled the room, Curry slightly hedged his answer, adding, “I would have to — yes. It’s me and Magic.”Arenas agreed and suggested Curry’s immense influence on the game as a reason the four-time champion might have an edge over Johnson.“We can look at stats and try to judge,” he said. “I wasn’t around with Magic… I know there’s not a lot of 6-9 point gu...
